LOCAL ESTATE AGENTS ROCHILLS TAKE TO THE RIVER IN SUPPORT OF KINGSTON’S YOUNG CARERS

At 10am on Sunday 21st July, 48 teams of 16 rowers - plus a drummer - will take to the River Thames to race against each other in long medieval boats in Kingston’s upon Thames’ 13th annual Dragon Boat Challenge. Family run Estate Agents Rochills, based in Walton on Thames, will be entering their team, The Rochills Rockitts, in support of Kingston Young Carers.

Kingston Young Carers Project supports 5-18 year olds who have caring responsibilities for a family member, maybe a parent or sibling, who is suffering with a physical or mental disability, or learning difficulties.  The Project provides a place for these young people to have a break, have fun, socialise with peers and receive one to one sessions with trained carers.

Apart from supporting a worthwhile charity, you’ll be guaranteed a great day out on the river, with riverside entertainment, stalls and sideshows, a riverside pub and lots of food.  With all the colourful boats racing past all day, it certainly will be an impressive spectacle to watch from Canbury Gardens. Admission for spectators is free and there will be plenty of space for picnics.

Marcel Roccia of Rochills said ‘We are very excited to be taking part in the Dragon Boat Challenge. It’s a worthy charity and it will be a fun day out for all the family, so please do sponsor us and come along and cheer us on’.

You can sponsor The Rochills Rockitts at www.charitygiving.co.uk/rochills and help towards the fantastic work done by Kingston Young Carers.

LOCAL ESTATE AGENTS ROCHILLS GIVE SUPPORT TO WALTON’S ‘LITTLE LEGS’ IN RAISING MONEY FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK

Family run estate agency Rochills is urging parents to enrol their little one’s to take part in a junior fundraising event for Cancer Research UK next month. ‘Little Legs for Life’ will be held at Esher Rugby Club on June 8 and is sponsored by Rochills.  The race is designed especially for young boys and girls. Children walk or run as many 500m laps at the club as they can manage in order to raise money to help beat cancer.

‘Little Legs for Life’ started in 2009 when eight Hersham and Walton parents formed a fundraising group in memory of their friend, Sarah Jack, who died of cancer aged just 36. The group has already raised more than £80,000 through Little Legs for Life and annual Pink Party. This year with the help of the local community, they hope to smash through the £100,000 barrier.

Nancy Scott, chair of the Walton-on-Thames CRUK group, said; “We wanted to find a way that children could get involved in fundraising that was fun as well as a great community event. We are hoping to break the £100,000 mark this year and need the community to help us achieve this.

There are lots of other activities on the day with hospital station Radio Wey providing music for the afternoon as well as face painting, a cake stall, ice cream, a raffle and live auction. Rochills will be providing the refreshments and roaming entertainment. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and stay on after the children have finished running.

Little Legs for Life takes place on Saturday 8th June at Esher Rugby Club from 2pm and is sponsored by family run estate agents Rochills. Registration is £6.50 per child and this includes a t-shirt and a medal.
